November is Andros Island Most Favorable Bonefishing month of the year.

Bonefishing experts agree that the month of November is the most favorable time for the sport in the Bahamas. You might ask, why is this? Well, climate has a lot to do with the facts for most favourable time to bonefish.

The average air temperature in the Bahamas during the month of November is seventy eight point five (78.5) degrees and the saltwater flats is slightly a few degrees warmer. Experts suggest that this is ideal temperature for bonefishing. Past research studies have pointed out that bonefish is very sensitive to warm waters (90 degrees+) as well as cooler waters (70 degrees-).

I must point out that the Bahamas is subject to spates of coldfronts during the Winter months of the year coming off the Florida peninsula. Temperatures during the day sometimes drop into the sixties with windspeeds of fifteen to twenty miles per hour. While this is gorgeous weather for vistors and locals after hot Summer temperatures it is tough for a fly fisherman trying to cast a fly with a bonefish rod.
